During the production of The Lord of the Rings, Weta Workshop was tasked with helping to build up the very foundations of how Middle-earth was to appear on screen. From the largest of towers to the smallest of Hobbit holes, countless sketches were made detailing every aspect, and although not every concept saw its way onto the big screen, each piece played an important role in exploring the world it belonged to.
For the very first time, Weta Workshop has the opportunity to bring a piece of Middle earth to life, that until now only existed on paper: The Key to Bag End.
It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt model make, mold, and paint the prototype for each new Middle-earth piece. Whether it be a prop replica, beautiful environment, or iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.
